CHD-1042 [Audit Log] Label which log entries c... Open

xP Priority: 3 - Would Be Nice

 Description
Summary:
A request to flag when a merge took place in the audit log. This is an alternative to using the 'updated' time stamp as a marker of the merge. The reason I say "using" is because the merged audit log shows that the 'updated' time stamp is in response to the absorbed ticket being closed and deleted. In other words symbolically it reflects the same action but it's not entirely clear to the users that a "closed = true" entry is the same as a "merge" event.

(quote)
We might want to update the ticket updated date and include the fact a merge took place in the audit log when we perform the merge as well. Mirko pointed out that the updated date doesn't change in this forum thread: http://www.cerb4.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3237
(end quote)

In the quote you'll notice Mirko points out that the updated date doesn't change. Like I said I think it does in the merged audit log but it's "attached" to the 'closed=true' / 'deleted=true' entries.

Note:
Originally buried in CHD-435 but needs to be handled separately.

Screenshot attached to hopefully clear things up. The two top audit log entries reflect that the absorbed ticket "This is testing the § character against a UTF8 database" was closed and deleted. Technically that's the same as a time stamp for the merge.

Both CHD-1043 and CHD-1042 deal with Audit Log merges.

If a ticket is deleted because it has been merged into another one would it be possible to have the audit log for the deleted ticket show something like "merged into ticket xyz by Fred Bloggs"?

I've just come across a ticket from a customer which is marked as deleted. I've looked at the requester history and can't see anything with a similar title so I can't work out if it was deleted by accident or merged into something else (and if so, what was it merged into!)

And how about a similar audit message on the "other" side of the merge? ie showing that a ticket was merged into this one.

Perhaps related to this, the current audit trail for a merged ticket seems to totally migrate to the new ticket. That means, from what I can see, the new ticket has entries like "closed = true, deleted = true" which applied to the merged ticket not the current one (ie the most recent event on the real ticket shows up as "deleted = true" and "closed = true"
even though the ticket is not deleted or closed)

Release a Plug-in that most of what this request has. I can't do anything about the old tickets as all entry's from the old ticket get grabbed and moved to the master ticket. So I can add it to the ticket but they get moved to the master ticket. Will leave a note to re-look back at that at a later time frame.

Thanks
Robert
