I liked the idea of something like this:
http://blog.box.net/?p=383
The
http://i.box.net functionality works rather well too.
Being able to select a workspace customised via the user profile on the browser would be brilliant and would allow flexibility of usage including custom fields if requested.
The peek functionality would ease the potentially laborious task of having to view the whole ticket if the subject line is a bit generic.

rfarnell is leaving many resources for iPhone development in that same forum. I thought I'd just bookmark it here for safe keeping:

I don't seem to be able to find it, but there was a really good example of a Twitter refresh tool. This one has a good video demo of something that would work

Also this post about 10 Productivity Twitter Tools for mobile is quite interesting:

+1 from me, re: iphone style web interface with workspaces + mail functionality. The current mobile UI is very basic.
I´d love to see an iphone interface as well.
have a look at the zendesk one - very basic but points you into the right direction.
Don't make an iPhone app! Make an Android one ... or a Blackberry one.. or :)
Seriously, don't make an app unless you have plenty of spare resources to throw at making (and maintaining!) multiple apps for each of the different mobile platforms.
A cut down mobile UI which improves on the existing (not really usable) mobile UI would be good though; aimed at an iPhone sized screen/device which would then also be similarly compatible with other mobile devices/browsers such as the various droids and blackberry's etc.
