I will likely add support for watcher plug-in's once we do the template rewrite to watchers after the new template system goings in since this is on my own roadmap as well.

This is entirely possible using the new Virtual Attendant functionality in 5.4

@Scott We already have Attendant plugins for Campfire and Twilio, so this one should be pretty easy. I'll put the sample code I have for XMPP on Dropbox.
