Display ticket number / mask in page title

Created: 23/Nov/07 06:46 PM   Updated: 02/Aug/10 07:28 PM
Fix Version/s: Cryostasis

Original Estimate: Unknown Remaining Estimate: Unknown Time Spent: Unknown

Value: 3 - Would Be Nice

 Description
Not sure about others, but I certainly find that I sometimes have various tickets open (e.g. in different tabs) at once and find it difficult to remember which one was which. Since Cerberus just shows a static page title (i.e. HTML title attribute) each tab has exactly the same to identify it.

Instead, I think you should at least display the ticket number / mask in the page title when viewing a ticket - ideally I'd like to suggest that this should be at the start of the title (i.e. so there's most chance of fitting the ticket number / mask onto the browser's tab).

I also believe, for exactly the same reasons, that the page title ought to include the ticket subject as well... I mean the ticket number / subject are virtually the page title by definition when you're viewing a ticket?

This is definitely something we can do, but it needs a little thought first the way Cerb4 is set up. Each page is a plugin, so the framework itself doesn't really know what it's rendering until we're well beyond <HEAD>.

It shouldn't be difficult, we just need to do it efficiently so we aren't hidding the ticket DB twice per page.

Why not buffer the output up to the plugin, and the plugin can then read the buffer and replace some sort of placeholder in the title?

Note for Joe@WGM: Update the "My Cerb4 Wishlist" thread when completed.
